I enjoy stepping away from the broadcast world every now and then and into different forms of film-making.
I direct commercials; devise, write and direct films for companies and charities; and I occasionally teach.
I’ve directed more than 50 national television commercials, mainly drama-based, and many local TV ads, mostly for the UK but also for the US and international markets.
In addition to broadcast campaigns I have written and directed numerous internet commercials, informercials, virals and promos.
Please contact me for an up-to-date reel.
I’ve written and directed corporate films for many of the top agencies and am often involved at the pitch stage - helping develop ideas and then presenting the final concept.
I specialise in working with actors and crew to create drama scenes that have the spontaneous and "non-staged" look and feel of a documentary.
I have worked on all scales of project, from pan-global shoots for multi-nationals to small-budget information films, and often work as the editor on the films I write and direct.
voluntary & teaching
Away from the day job I enjoy collaborating with young film-makers.
I've run workshops for local schools and colleges, film clubs for drama groups and youth clubs, and have given film-making masterclasses for a number of charities.
One after-school club I recently organised at a sixth-form college resulted in the students film-makers winning the BFI's "Most Promising Newcomer" Award for their film.
I have also written and produced a number of charity films on a not-for-profit basis.
